REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Principal

JOB SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Music teacher is to prepare lesson plans and teach elementary children.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides music instruction to students from introductory to intermediate lessons. Curriculum and instruction materials along with pedagogical practices must meet the standards of the District's evaluation plan.
2. Implements the District's philosophy, mission, goals, and objectives by instruction and action.
3. Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of academic achievement and behavior.
4. Maintains effective discipline procedures that reflect school and district guidelines.
5. Prepares students for performance in concerts, school and district events.
6. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior necessary to achieve an appropriate learning atmosphere.
7. Prepare and perform in civic events.
8. Supervises students during fire drills, tornado drills and other safety activities.
9. Maintains appropriate electronic and individual student records and prepares progress reports on students' growth.
10. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members to assess students' strengths and needs.
11. Creates an effective setting for learning through a functional, organized, safe, and instructional appropriate environment.
12. Maintains professional, technical, and instructional competence through staff development opportunities.
13. Assists in the effective administration of group standardized tests in accordance with the District and state testing programs.
14. Participates in meetings and activities, as required.
15. Adheres to the policies and procedures of the District.
16. Coordinate and attend instrumental rental night.
