Summary: Expected to support the advancement of company goals and report any obstacles to accomplishment of job duties. Accountable for responsibilities defined below as well as influence and impact on co-workers and the protection and proper utilization of company assets.
Responsibilities
● Lead mechanical design on assigned projects
● Develops mechanical part and assembly documentation
● Creates and maintains revision-controlled BOMs and ECOs
● Develops complete, testable mechanical design specifications from product requirements
● Estimates costs and timelines, and communicates status to management
● Acts as technical liaison to purchasing and manufacturing for specification and validation of mechanical components and assemblies
● Supports troubleshooting and root cause analysis of existing products and recommends corrective responses
Engineering Skills
● Develops 3D CAD models and drawings per product specifications
● Specifies materials, mechanical components and hardware, and identifies suitable alternative components
● Creates prototypes through both in-house and outsourced 3D printing, machining, and other rapid manufacturing techniques
● Performs analysis using software simulation and testing of prototypes
● Completes assembly fit checks, participates in FMEA and DFM reviews
Requirements
● B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related discipline (equivalent experience may be considered)
● 3–5+ years of experience in mechanical design, validation, and troubleshooting
● Proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., OnShape, SolidWorks, Fusion 360)
● Experience with design for manufacturability and mechanical documentation
● Effective, professional communication, including ability to read/write technical documentation, reports
● Willingness to innovate, learn new tools and strategies to achieve the objective at hand
