PING, Inc., maker of PING golf equipment, is seeking a Staff Technical Designer that is responsible for translating industrial design concepts into production-ready technical documentation, focusing on accuracy, construction detail, and supplier clarity. This role ensures the integrity of our soft goods designs-such as golf bags, headwear, travel accessories, and apparel - throughout the development process by owning tech packs, reviewing samples, and communicating directly with PING Soft Goods industrial designers, developers and manufacturing partners. This role supports the Industrial Design team and allows them to focus more heavily on product innovation, initial design concepts and consumer trends. This position requires the candidate to reside in the Phoenix Metro Area, relocation assistance will be provided.

Create and maintain technical design packages including spec sheets, BOMs, graded dimensions, stitching/construction callouts, and material details. Partner with Industrial Design, Product Development, and Sourcing teams to ensure alignment on materials, functionality, and cost. Own sample review and fit/function assessment: measure against spec, document variances, and issue updates. Work closely with the development team and vendors/suppliers to ensure execution accuracy, responding to sample rounds with documented comments and updated tech packs. Assist in building and managing a library of construction standards, finishing methods, and test protocols. Maintain version control and data integrity across all tech documents. Support continuous improvement efforts around design documentation, cost accuracy, and sample quality. Occasional domestic and international travel is required. YOU HAVE:

Bachelor's Degree in Technical Design, Product Development, Industrial Design, or related field, plus a minimum 2 years' technical design experience in soft goods, bags, or related consumer products; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and team skills with the ability to gain consensus. Thorough knowledge of soft goods manufacturing processes. Strong grasp of soft goods construction, materials, trims, and patterning. Ability to effectively participate in and lead focused cross-disciplinary business meetings Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to take initiative, work independently, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement in both product and process. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Creative Cloud tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of 3D design programs such as SolidWorks or Pro E (Creo) is a plus. Ability to perform 2D and 3D sketch and rendering (computer, pencil & markers). Knowledge of principles of color, textures, human factors and form as they relate to designing excellent products.
