BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for media negotiation, buying, and reconciliation of traditional, non-traditional, and digital media and advertising buys and acts as a liaison between Media Planning and Creative to facilitate workflow. Works directly with Media Planner/Buyer to work out budgets, select advertising media, and organize schedules. Handles the timely dissemination of advertising materials to various media outlets. Is detailed-oriented and performs post-buy measurement and analysis of all media used. Establishes media relationships to professionally represent credit union. Plays a large role in the organization of effective marketing plans and the completion of marketing research. Troubleshoot problems to make sure a project or process remains on schedule.
TYPICAL DUTIES
- Acts as a liaison between media vendors and the credit union.
- Attends individual media presentations and/or industry presentations to keep current with industry changes.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with media representatives, analyzes, and recommends proposals and/or packages for broadcast, digital, out-of-home and print advertising.
- Manages cross-market media budget and spend. Leverages buying power and relationships to further the mission and goals of the credit union.
- Determines television programs, radio stations, digital channels, and newspapers for print to use for all buys. Ensure campaigns resonate with target communities.
- Executes media buys.
- Processes necessary paperwork for all media buys. Keeps all media files relating to credit union’s needs.
- Works in collaboration with Media Planner/Buyer and Digital Innovation team on digital buying strategies.
- Measures and evaluates digital media performance through reporting and analytics.
- Works on monthly media billing and reconciliation for all media placement.
- Assists in providing post-buy media analysis.
- Assesses the production requirements when creative teams have developed their proposals for advertisements.
- Utilizes project management software to control workflow. Monitors the progress of ad production through different departments and external suppliers and adjusts schedules to deal with any delays or problems. Schedules regular production meetings to review progress and re-allocate resources to keep production/traffic on schedule. Schedules time commitments.
- Routes jobs for internal approvals.
- Expedites workflow.
- Keeps up with current events that affect the markets and media environment.
- Maintain and understand compliance to ensure that work complies with GECU’s established policies, procedures and applicable regulations, to include Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML) addressing Money Laundering and the Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Member Identification Program (MIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).
- Other duties that may be assigned or required in connection with the general operation of the credit union.
Qualifications
- CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in advertising, business, communications or related field.
- One(1) to three (3) years of related experience.
- Strong project management, organization, time management, and detail-oriented skills.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
- Experience in negotiating rates and added value.
- Experience with digital marketing such as Facebook, Google Ads and Google 360 preferred.
- Experience in trafficking digital, broadcast, and print advertising.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiar with media buying/traffic software such as Strata or GaleForce.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure within a fast-paced high-volume environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- A self-starter able to work collaboratively as well as independently.
- Requires sitting the majority of the day, lifting up to 20 pounds continuously, and lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally. Bending, twisting, reaching above and below shoulder frequently, squatting, climbing and kneeling occasionally.

- Providing quality service is the primary responsibility of this position. Quality service means treating members and coworkers with respect and courtesy at all levels whether in person or by telephone as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Availability requirements: Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m.
- Occasional after hours and weekends for events
