Overview
The City of Fullerton is recruiting for a highly experienced Library Director to manage the day-to-day activities of the Fullerton Main Library and Hunt Branch. The successful candidate will have a broad background in library services and a strong track record of success in managing a multi-faceted organization. The new Director will work closely with the Library Board of Trustees and the City Manager’s Office and will be directly responsible for a department of 24 regular employees, with an operating budget of approximately 4.9 million.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee library operations, staff, budgets, and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with Library Board of Trustees and City Manager’s Office.
- Provide ethical decision-making, strong leadership, and public speaking.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and a master’s degree in library science or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: A minimum of eight years of recent, continuous, progressively responsible professional public library experience, including three years at the mid-management/supervisory level or higher in an organization comparable to Fullerton in terms of scope.

- Salary up to $192,781 annually, depending on qualifications. Future general salary increases: 3% effective July 4, 2026.
