The Department of Language and Literature at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) invites applications for a full-time, permanent Assistant Professor of Literature and Composition. The department offers an English M.A., B.A.s in English, Spanish, and Interdisciplinary Studies, and minors in Spanish, German, philosophy, literature, and writing. NCCU is a historically Black university located in Durham, North Carolina.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The mission of the Department of Language and Literature is to engage students in languages, cultures, literatures, linguistics, and writing; to foster analytical and creative thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication for civic and professional life. The department offers programs and engages in interdisciplinary initiatives across Women’s and Gender Studies, Global Studies, Service Learning, undergraduate research, and Digital Humanities.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose is to teach four courses per semester in English Composition and Literature.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Demonstrated excellence in teaching; record of department and/or university service; demonstrable promise of scholarship and research in English Studies.
Minimum Education/Experience
Ph.D. in English or a related field.
