What You’ll Do
- As a Meteorologist, you’ll primarily focus on weather forecasting. By providing easy-to-understand weather updates, you’ll help our audience stay safe and informed. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that creates compelling, timely, and accurate content to connect with viewers across traditional and digital platforms.
- Combine data and science with storytelling; provide high-quality, informative, easy-to-understand weather forecasts; tell weather stories across platforms including TV, connected television, and digital.
Required Qualifications
- Experience forecasting and presenting weathercasts - 2+ years, working knowledge of TV weather graphics systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology
- Knowledge of synoptic meteorology, tropical and radar
- Ability to anticipate situations, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrate enthusiasm in dealing with breaking news
- Travel to discover important stories in your neighborhood and interact with the community
- Schedule: Ability to work different shifts or longer shifts due to "breaking news" and severe weather emergencies. Willing and able to work weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- National Weather Association (NWA) and/or the AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal
- Working knowledge of general office software, newsroom software, and basic non-linear editing systems
- May be required to lift up to five pounds
Working Conditions
- Works inside a climate-controlled environment throughout the year, but will be assigned to field duties as necessary
- Works in an open newsroom setting with a semi-noisy environment
- Communicates in person, by phone, and by email
- Materials and equipment used: various studio, weather forecasting, and newsgathering television equipment, computers, and computer-related equipment

The base pay for this position generally is between $44,000.00 and $90,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
