ABOUT THE ROLE

CoStar Group (NASDAQ: CSGP) is a leading global provider of commercial and residential real estate information, analytics, and online marketplaces. The news team is launching coverage of the residential housing market on Homes.com. We are looking for entrepreneurial reporters who can break news, generate scoops and produce a steady run of enterprise stories about the people, trends and companies that shape how we buy and sell homes. This role will be based in our San Diego, CA office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate a command of the housing beat, closely following major industry trends, leaders and companies.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with CoStar’s news, research and analyst teams to ensure timely coverage across the markets.
  • Cultivate a bench of knowledgeable sources and glean insights from relevant information services.
  • Produce stories and other content tailored for the web, email newsletters, social media and other platforms.
  • Follow generally accepted journalism ethics and standards to report the facts, including truth, accuracy, fairness and impartiality.
  • Write clearly following AP style, engaging a broad audience of property professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 2 years of experience reporting and writing for a daily publication.
  • Business journalism experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to break news and reveal market-moving information that hasn’t been published elsewhere.
  • Strong web headline and story writing skills, with knowledge of AP Style, SEO and social media best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Comfort with digital media and ability to pair reports with images and other visuals.
  • A portfolio showcasing your top work.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required; ideally in journalism, communications, or a related discipline.

We welcome all qualified candidates who are eligible to work full-time in the United States to apply. This position offers a base salary range of $75,000 - $95,000, plus a generous benefits plan.
