Overview
The Performing Arts Foundation seeks a creative, experienced, full-time Assistant Technical Director with a strong inclination toward audio, aptitude for stage lighting, and knowledge of safety and rigging best practices. We operate the 1,200-seat historic Grand Theater in Wausau, WI, hosting over 200 events annually. This position interacts with a diverse clientele that includes touring production companies, corporate events, live music, theater, dance companies, as well as private and public gatherings of all types.
Responsibilities
- Installation, operation, and strike of theatrical audio, rigging, video, and lighting equipment, both facility and touring owned.
- Supervision of building, equipment, and personnel as assigned.
- Maintenance of facility and equipment, including painting, electrical, snow removal, and occasional cleaning.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be motivated, punctual, positive, and able to follow instructions and work independently.
- Able to multitask, taking ownership of assignments, and able to identify potential hazards.
- Enjoys working with people and can interact positively with clients in all aspects of their production.
- Has a complete understanding of theatrical audio, lighting, wiring, and general repair skills.
- Able to design, set up, and engineer audio.
- Knowledge of the ETC Eos Operating system.
- Comfortable and experienced working at heights, off lifts and ladders, and catwalks.
- Has a demonstrated ability to operate a single-purchase, counterweight fly system safely.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects with the use of proper equipment.
- Good written/verbal communications; computer, web, and electronic skills.
Experience
Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent. At least 3 years’ experience working in a technical theater role and knowledgeable in theatrical sound, lighting, and rigging systems.
Training
Training: The PAF will train committed employees. However, as a full-time house position, candidates must come to this role with superb skills in the aforementioned areas. Position Information
Position Information: Full-time hourly position with benefits. The benefits package includes health, dental, vision, paid time off, and a generous vacation and personal and sick day policy for all full-time employees. Pay range is commensurate with experience. The base salary range is $50,000-$60,000 and is eligible for overtime. The position requires regular hours, as well as additional evening and weekend work. Position involves public contact.
