, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Technical Writer to support TGS and our government customer in Baltimore, MD. The Headquarters client operations in Woodlawn, Maryland, provides executive support to the Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Deputy Commissioner for issues pertaining to the integration of the Office of Hearing Operations electronic disability initiatives into business processes. The mission of the Division of Information Technology Integration (DITI) is to deliver high-quality information technology strategies and services for the Office of Hearings Operations (OHO) that are consistent with SSA's systems architecture and procedures, and provide ongoing, innovative office automation and data processing support that will allow each OHO component to champion citizen-centered results.
- The position will be stationed at the Woodlawn, Maryland site. Travel to the E Street location and other SSA and OHO Headquarters locations may be required.
- Full time support is required for this task and consists of an eight-and-a-half-hour workday (half hour meal break included), Monday through Friday. Some shifts may be required upon the government’s request, with advance notice.
- Intermittent telework days may be approved on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with SSA’s telework procedures.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to: The role is to support Information Technology (IT) technical documentation efforts, including researching, collecting, and organizing information for preparation of IT materials, guidelines, and documentation. The contractor shall write and create this documentation with clarity and accuracy. This may involve walkthroughs or testing of a process or system, or collaboration with other technicians to vet and finalize. Specific tasks may include:
- IT Administrative or Governance Correspondence: Creating, reviewing, vetting, and distributing policy or process documents, Executive talking points or ready-to-go Executive draft emails, or other internal administrative documentation. Tools may include Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Confluence, Jira.
- Intake and Project Documentation: Reviewing control and internal requests, action items, projects, processes, and procedures for work actions and knowledge management; ensuring stakeholders are involved and actions are completed.
- Formal Presentations: Preparing and delivering formal presentations (written and verbal) to communicate technical and non-technical information to internal teams, stakeholders, Executives, or external audiences.
- Training Materials: Developing training materials, manuals, or e-learning modules; developing training curriculums by position with SMEs.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts: Gathering technical information and ensuring accuracy in documentation.
- Edit and Proofread: Reviewing and editing content for quality and consistency.
- Content Management: Managing a content repository or documentation system with version control.
- Feedback Integration: Incorporating user and stakeholder feedback to improve documentation.
- Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs): Reviewing and creating data flow diagrams to illustrate data movement within systems or processes.
- Decision Tree Review and Creation: Analyzing and creating decision trees to illustrate workflows.
- User Manuals and Documentation: Creating user manuals, guides, and documentation for products and services.
- Application and API Documentation: Developing documentation to explain how to interact with software or systems.
- Release Notes: Producing release notes for product updates and features.
- Online Help Systems: Building and maintaining online help systems integrated into software.
- Whitepapers, Case Studies, Video Tutorials: Producing supporting documents and multimedia to showcase expertise and assist users.
- Style Guides: Maintaining style guides for terminology, formatting, and writing style.
- Compliance Documents: Writing compliance documentation per industry regulations.
- Knowledge Base Articles: Populating and updating a knowledge base with relevant articles.
- Quality Assurance Documentation: Creating QA/testing documentation to support software testing.
- Troubleshooting Guides: Producing guides to help users resolve issues.
- Content Updates: Regularly updating documentation to reflect changes in products or standards.
- Version History and Change Logs: Maintaining version history and change logs.
Education, Experience And Skills
- Associate degree in related field.
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in this area.
- Experience providing technical support and in documentation/technical writing.
- Experience reporting information to management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, multitasking, detail-oriented skills, and proficiency in relevant software and tools.
