Position Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, culturally aware volunteer Social Media Manager to lead the planning, scheduling, and engagement of MySS’s social media platforms. This role involves crafting compelling social content, fostering community dialogue, and collaborating with the Digital Marketer, Content Creators, and Brand Manager to expand our online presence. You will gain hands-on experience in social media strategy, community engagement, and analytics-all within a nonprofit committed to wellness and empowerment.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and maintain a social media calendar aligned with MySS’s mission, upcoming programs, and campaigns.
  • Identify platform-specific strategies (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) to reach diverse audiences.

Content Scheduling and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with Content Creators and the Creative Team to ensure timely publication of visuals, videos, and written posts.
  • Maintain consistent branding and culturally resonant messaging across all social channels.

Community Engagement:

  • Monitor comments, messages, and discussions; respond promptly to inquiries.
  • Encourage user participation through polls, Q&As, and interactive challenges, while maintaining a safe, respectful online space.

Analytics and Performance Tracking:

  • Use platform analytics (e.g., Instagram Insights, Facebook Analytics) to measure reach, engagement, and community sentiment.
  • Prepare monthly reports with insights and recommendations to enhance audience engagement.

Collaboration and Brand Alignment:

  • Work closely with the Online Programing Team to align social campaigns with broader digital marketing goals.
  • Provide feedback to the Team Lead regarding social trends and audience reactions to help refine messaging strategies.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience or coursework in social media management, content scheduling, and community engagement.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.) and scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer).
  • Strong understanding of culturally relevant storytelling and the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to upholding a positive, inclusive community environment.
  • Basic familiarity with analytics tools and data-driven decision-making.
  • Alignment with My Serenity Sanctuary’s mission and willingness to collaborate in a remote setting.

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 10 hours/week (including mandatory meetings).
  • 6-month minimum volunteer commitment.
  • Must be available for the weekly team meeting
  • Team Meetings: Tuesdays, 9 AM - 10 AM PST.
