Overview

The Audio Technician - Specialized Skills Instructor is a full time Civil Service position in the Metro Parks and Recreation department. This position is responsible for providing programming, instruction, recording, sound engineering and lighting in Metro Parks Studios and Theaters; to assist with logistic and production elements of Cultural Arts programming including concerts, exhibitions, recordings, performances, and other Park Events as needed.

Currently, the department oversees nearly 16,000 acres of open space, including 184 parks and 107 miles of greenway. Metro Parks offers after school programs for children, activities for seniors (55+), cultural arts classes, dog parks, fitness classes, nature programs, sports leagues, ice hockey, art galleries, and much more. Responsibilities

• Setting up and taking down of sound and lighting equipment for performances.
• Operating mixing consoles for recording sessions and maintaining files.
• Maintain equipment in recording studios.
• Perform routine maintenance and accounting of equipment.
• Provide programming to Parks participants.
• Serve as team leader to seasonal audio technician staff.
• Assist team members in monitoring facilities as needed.
• Report maintenance and inventory issues.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in audio engineering or a related field and one (1) year experience as an audio technician.

Additional experience may be considered in lieu of some education.

Licenses Required

Valid Driver License

Additional Qualifications

• College degree in audio engineering or related field
• Experience with audio software and stage lighting
• Experience programming with youth and adults
• Experience with sound editing and recording equipment (e.g., mixing consoles)
• Knowledge of audio metering, equipment, formats, and software
