Overview
The Web and Creative Director leads the vision, design, and execution of BluWave’s visual and digital experiences. Balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution, the role owns creative direction, web strategy, and user experience for customer-facing assets, ensuring consistency, optimization, and continued innovation.
The Director will use data-driven insights and performance analytics to continuously refine digital and creative efforts to create measurable outcomes that align with departmental and organizational goals. This includes contributing directly to achieving or exceeding budgeted calls and engagements, while also strengthening the brand’s visibility and reputation across all service areas and customer types.
Web & Digital Experience
- Website Strategy: Lead UI/UX for the corporate site to ensure usability, accessibility, and conversion optimization.
- Website Management: Manage day-to-day operations, updates, site health, integrations, and platform optimization. Train team in updating the site and empower them with best practices, tools, and templates to increase efficiency while ensuring high standards are continually met.
- Website Development: Own and execute the initial and ongoing development of BluWave sites on HubSpot and WordPress platforms. Develop on additional platforms as needed for website and landing page initiatives. Leverage external vendors and freelancers as needed for complex issues.
- Website Optimization: Analyze digital performance and apply data-driven insights to improve outcomes. Continually optimize site performance to increase qualified conversions, SEO, and AEO through continued testing and experimentation.
- Reporting: Report on site performance, experiments, and conversions with recommendations to achieve department and organizational growth goals.
- Internal Collaboration: Align with product, sales, research, and marketing teams on customer-focused digital experiences and approaches to enhance.
- Creative Direction: Own brand identity and creative vision across all customer-facing assets (web, collateral, event assets, ads, social, email, reports, animations, etc.).
- Asset Creation: Responsible for the development of all marketing assets and templates. Empower marketing and BluWave team members with easy to customize templates, workflows, and guidance.
- Thought Leadership and Campaigns: Partner with team on the development of animations, ads, infographics, presentations, etc that support ongoing thought leadership initiatives and campaigns including quarterly reports and annual awards.
- Design Standards: Develop and enforce design systems and brand guidelines.
- Resource Management: Direct agencies, contractors, and freelancers, when appropriate, to deliver high-quality outputs.
- AI Strategy: Drive adoption of AI tools and AI Agents for creative, web, and content workflows, that increase efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining high quality standards.
- Trend Leadership: Stay ahead of design, web, and AI trends and innovations to elevate brand and user experience.
Additional Responsibilities
- Cross Functional Support: Supports cross-functional initiatives with UI/UX, design, and creative solutions to enhance external-, customer-, and internal-facing assets, platforms, and processes.
- Product and Client Presentations: Partner internally to provide user experience and development support for platforms, landing pages, presentations, etc. with product, development, technology, and research teams.
- Education: Support development and integration of education initiatives including delivery (LMS), course design, downloadable assets, certifications/badges, etc.
- Podcast and Video: Support the podcasting and video processes with creative direction, process support (e.g., editing, uploading, etc.), graphics, etc. as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Expertise and Core Skills
- Extensive experience owning website performance, website development, user experience, creative direction, and tactical execution.
- Strong knowledge of human-centered design, user experience best practices, and feedback loops (e.g. user research, usability testing, A/B testing, heat/click mapping, etc.)
- Strong technical acumen with hands-on expertise using design platforms (Adobe CC, Canva, etc.), website development (HubSpot, WordPress), and UI/UX design platforms (Figma, Adobe CC, etc.).
- Proven ability to develop and execute innovative creative and branding strategies.
- Ability to distinguish between strategy vs tech-related problems and address each effectively
- Portfolio demonstrating both creative strategy the successful execution across web and creative initiatives.
