Mid-Level Web Developer (Shopify & WordPress Maintenance & Support)

Location: Denver / Hybrid

Salary : $75,000 - $85,000

BLKDG is seeking a skilled FT Mid-Level Web Developer with strong experience in Shopify and WordPress to join our team. This is a technical, hands-on role where you'll be responsible for executing development-related support and maintenance tasks for our clients' websites. This position requires programming skills (namely PHP, Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and an understanding of core design principles required to build and maintain beautiful websites.

We are a team of designers, builders, planners, creators and collaborators, serving brands all over the country. This is a Denver-based hybrid role, offering flexibility to work both in-office and remotely.

Responsibilities

• Platform / multi-site maintenance and optimization for both WordPress and Shopify
• Perform routine updates on plugins, themes, and platforms
• Debug and fix issues with themes, plugins, and custom code
• Implement small feature requests and content updates
• Ensure websites are secure, performant, and follow best practices
• Provide code reviews and feedback to other developers
• Assist with work planning and issue management
• Convert project requirements into proposals for implementation (estimating time / resources, planning tasks / timeline, etc)
• Write clear and concise documentation

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in both Shopify and WordPress development
• Excellent communication skills for internal and client-facing communications
• Time management and prioritization skills to balance long-term innovation with client project needs
• Strong command of programming skills including PHP, Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
• Mastery of web standards and best practices, particularly meaningful, semantic HTML across devices and breakpoints
• Strong experience with CSS preprocessors (SASS/LESS) and bundler/build tools (e.g., Webpack)
• Familiarity with modern development practices and tools (GitHub, GitHub Actions, Webpack, Composer, NPM/Yarn, Laravel Blade, React)
• Familiarity with component-driven design, Gutenberg, and Shopify’s Liquid templating
• Understanding of performance optimization and website security best practices for both platforms
• Experience as a self-starter and motivated learner
• Knowledge of SEO / SEM and its impact on web design
