Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.

The Economic Development Group, ("EDG") promotes the business and economic development interests within Institutional Planning and Operations, the university, and local community. EDG is responsible for maintaining operating budgets, property and lease management, rent collection and tenant insurance and licensing compliance. EDG also provides oversight of Rutgers Faculty and Staff Short Term Housing Program, Rutgers Cinema, kite+key Rutgers Tech Store, and TeKCheK Rutgers Computer Repair Service. The group initiates marketing and event planning around campus that promotes brand awareness for these programs.

Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Marketing Intern for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). The intern supports the Marketing team and should be curious about marketing, business, and how organizations communicate with the public. This internship is a great opportunity to explore these interests in a real-world setting. No prior experience is needed - just creativity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn!

What You'll Learn:

  • Teamwork and communication skills in a professional setting.

What You'll Do:
  • Helping to plan and promote events and activities.
  • Creating posts for social media (Instagram, TikTok, etc.).
  • Brainstorming and making short videos or content for digital platforms.
  • Learning how to use tools like Canva to design flyers or graphics.
  • Supporting our team at events by greeting visitors or handing out materials.

$15.50/hourly

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and/or up to 4 years of relevant experience.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid Driver's License
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Creativity and a positive attitude.
  • Reliable and responsible - able to follow through on tasks. Comfortable working within a team and asking questions when needed.
  • Willing to participate on camera for social content (if interested).
  • Demonstrate academic excellence through strong grades, honors, awards or other achievements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • A first year undergraduate with an interest in business, marketing, or digital content.
