Job Description

Job Description

We’re hiring our first full-time Video Producer & Content Lead to own the growth of our YouTube channel and social video program. You’ll take the lead in building a channel that delivers compelling stories, earns trust with passionate hobbyists, and drives real engagement and growth. From long-form tutorials to native social shorts, your videos will teach, convert, and bring people back week after week.

You’ve built channels before. Now come build one with real support, ownership, and creative freedom. You’ll handle the entire production process: shooting, editing, publishing, and improving. Most content will be filmed in our new in-house studio. You’ll create educational series, product walkthroughs, and maker-focused features designed to grow a loyal woodturning community.

This is a hands-on, strategic role with real ownership. You’ll shape the video roadmap, direct how we show up on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, and ensure our content connects and performs.

The position is fully in-office. You’ll collaborate closely with the marketing team and help shape the buildout of our new content studio. The right person thrives on storytelling, community-building, and the challenge of turning raw footage into content that drives results.

Your Mission

  • Plan, shoot, edit, and publish high-quality video content for YouTube and social channels
  • Own the full production process from concept to upload
  • Develop long-form tutorials, product walkthroughs, educational series, and community stories
  • Create and repurpose short-form video for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, Facebook, and TikTok
  • Set and manage a consistent publishing schedule across platforms
  • Build out and maintain a simple content calendar tied to product launches, seasons, and trends
  • Handle lighting, audio, and camera work with confidence in a studio setting
  • Contribute basic graphics, still photography, or motion elements for use across marketing
  • Try new formats and ideas to learn what resonates with our audience
  • Work closely with the marketing team to make sure content connects with strategy

YouTube and Social Channel Growth

  • Own and lead strategy for growing our YouTube and social video channels
  • Set and track channel goals (subscribers, views, retention, engagement)
  • Identify high-performing topics and video formats using trends, analytics, and community insights
  • Optimize titles, descriptions, hashtags, and playlists with tools like vidIQ or TubeBuddy
  • Collaborate on thumbnails, hooks, and CTAs to increase click-through and watch time
  • Manage publishing cadence and scheduling to build consistency and audience momentum
  • Repurpose long-form content into platform-native shorts for YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok
  • Apply proven YouTube growth tactics and social media strategies from past experience to gain traction fast
  • Partner with the marketing team on video support for launches, promotions, and evergreen content
  • Stay sharp on platform updates, Shorts/Reels trends, and algorithm shifts to guide experiments
  • Bonus: Experience with livestreaming and native creator tools on YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok

What We’re Looking For

  • 1 to 7 years of experience in video production, ideally for direct-to-consumer or creator-led brands
  • You’ve owned or led the growth of a YouTube or social video channel
  • Proven ability to develop video formats, improve performance, and understand what keeps audiences coming back
  • Skilled in studio shooting, with confidence in directing and setting up shots
  • Strong storytelling instincts, with the ability to simplify complex or technical ideas
  • Proficiency in Premiere Pro, CapCut, or similar editing tools
  • Comfortable working with DSLR, mirrorless, or smartphone cameras
  • Familiar with YouTube SEO, analytics tools, and best practices for channel and content optimization
  • Bonus: Experience with Canva, Photoshop, or InDesign
  • Bonus: Passion for woodworking, hands-on projects, or the maker community

Why This Role Matters
