Overview

Volunteer - Library at City of Apache Junction. This is a volunteer position and does not offer compensation.

Responsibilities

• Assist library staff and patrons with a variety of jobs and tasks throughout the library.
• Volunteer opportunities include: Book Discussion Groups, Teach Programs, Children Programs, English Literacy, Shelving, Special Events, Materials Processing, Dusting/Cleaning.

Time commitment

2-4 hours per week

Days of work week

Monday through Saturday

Minimum Qualifications

Volunteers 18 years of age or older who are accepted for assignment must consent and pass a criminal background check.

Knowledge

• Communicate clearly and concisely (both verbally and in writing)
• Knowledge of City and department procedures, policies, and guidelines

Skills

• Convey a positive, friendly attitude, work pleasantly with staff, patrons, and other volunteers. Understand and follow written and verbal instructions, policies, and procedures
• Work congenially with staff, patrons, and other volunteers
• Ability to lift and move objects as needed
• Suggest topics and speakers within the timeframe set by the library
