Overview

KRCR has an immediate opening for a creative News Producer to join the #1 news team in Redding, California. The role focuses on the day-to-day production of our newscasts and collaboration with newsroom leaders, reporters, fellow producers, and the rest of the team on the newscast content. The producer determines content and flow of the newscasts, writes stories, and develops content for our digital and social platforms.

Responsibilities

• Determine the content and flow of the newscasts.
• Generate and write stories; develop content for digital and social platforms.
• Collaborate with newsroom leaders, reporters, fellow producers, and field crews.
• Play an important role in newsgathering across all platforms.

Qualifications

• Solid news judgment.
• Compelling and accurate writing.
• Ability to multitask and manage time to produce an engaging and informative newscast.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts.
• Flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities.
• Strong knowledge of social media platforms.
• Proficiency with non-linear editing (e.g., Avid) and newsroom systems such as iNews.

Experience

• At least 1 year of newsroom experience at a commercial or college TV station is preferred, though a suitable entry-level candidate may be considered.
• A journalism degree is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The base hourly compensation range for this role is $17.50 to $18.85 per hour. Final compensation will be determined by factors such as relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full-time positions are eligible for benefits including retirement plan participation, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
