Position Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated storyteller who enjoys working with journalists and key stakeholders to shape the story of an important global leader in healthcare. As Manager of Enterprise Public Relations, you will have a significant focus on writing, media relations and awareness building strategies, issues management and cross-functional communications support. You are someone who thinks proactively and with creativity; can navigate high-stakes situations with diplomacy, critical thinking and a can-do attitude; and enjoys putting pen to paper to get the job done. You have excellent writing skills as well as a proven media relations track record and relationships with relevant journalists. Responsibilities
- Leads media outreach and serves as company spokesperson for challenging issues.
- Creates clear, concise communications for key audiences, drawing upon business and communication expertise. Selects writing style based on desired target audiences aligned to business goals and key stakeholders and modifies it to be channel appropriate.
- Builds strong communications plans connected to business goals and applies best-in-class communication strategies to meet objectives and desired outcomes.
- Promotes and protects Cardinal Health’s brand and reputation.
- Partners with SVP of Enterprise Communications & Marketing to maintain relationships with key media outlets.
- Advises Cardinal Health leaders on media, reputation, and related issues/events.
- External communications lead for PS&S function and Opti Freight business.
- Provides input on digital channels including internal/external websites, social, and blogs.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of strategies in achieving objectives.
- Builds relationships and collaborates with cross-functional teams.
- Leads outreach for proactive campaigns and announcements.
- Coordinates with communications colleagues to align messages and media activities.
- Develops quarterly and full-year media reports.
- Manages Cardinal Health’s media inquiry inbox.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
- 7+ years of public relations experience, including social media, preferred
- Strong understanding of media relations and social media principles, tools and measurement processes
- Ability to interact with senior executives independently and with confidence
- Strong experience with issues management and crisis communications
- Experience developing and leading communication campaigns and strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; writing expertise is a must (press releases, talking points, briefing documents)
- High energy, agile in a dynamic environment; self-starter who can anticipate needs and act
- Excellent time management skills to meet tight deadlines
- Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel
- Has a nose for news and experience in finding and developing stories
- Passionate storyteller with attention to detail and a positive attitude
