Job Summary
- This Social Media Content Coordinator role supports the Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau’s (PMVB) overall marketing strategy by producing content that inspires travel, drives engagement, and highlights our members in the Pocono Mountains region.
- The Social Media Content Coordinator plays a vital role in showcasing the Pocono Mountains through dynamic, engaging short-form video content. This position is focused on the creation, editing, and publishing of digital video for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with a passion for travel and tourism, a strong eye for visual content, and proficiency in mobile and desktop video editing tools.
- The Social Media Content Coordinator is an “out-of-the-box thinker,” and has their finger on the pulse of the latest social media trends, content creation techniques, and technologies. They can turn around content quickly and possess a deep understanding of the differences between the content styles needed for each platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining the content calendar that covers a detailed plan for posts, content ideas, and themes for all social media channels.
- Assist in answering and monitoring social media comments in the PMVB’s brand voice using Agorapulse – a social media management platform. This includes evenings, weekends, and holiday periods.
- Use social listening to identify recurring questions or themes for future content ideas or to identify an issue at member property or in the region.
- Utilize the CRM to document interactions with our members, including social media visits, asset requests, and communications.
- Conceptualize, shoot, and edit short-form vertical videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Edits, CapCut, and InShot.
- Work with Executive Producer of Broadcasting and PTN to be available for broadcast commercial shoots to get vertical videos to use for digital media ads that are outside of broadcast.
- Capture compelling video footage from events, member businesses, scenic locations, and seasonal activities across the Pocono Mountains.
- Create fun, timely, and trend-aware content that reflects the PMVB brand and resonates with our target audiences.
- Writing engaging captions, selecting music, and implementing creative transitions, text overlays, and effects to social video.
- Work with the Social Media Manager to plan a video-first content calendar aligned with overall marketing campaigns and storytelling themes.
- Capture compelling images for use in social media posts.
- Utilize the Crowdriff platform to request user-generated content for social media content, website, blog, and other marketing materials.
- Monitor video performance analytics across platforms and adjust content strategy based on trends and insights.
- Maintain an organized digital asset library for video footage, thumbnails, and project files.
- Stay on top of evolving trends in short-form video, audio, editing styles, and social media algorithms.
- Collaborate with members and partners to amplify video reach and content variety.
- All other duties as directed.
Required Qualifications and Job Skills
- Experience in capturing compelling images and videos that tell a story for social media.
- Research and compile social trends, ideas, competitors’ best-in-class examples, and cutting-edge executions to inform and propose new content
- Create storyboards, shot lists, and pre-production materials for social-first content
- Collaborate with the creative, social, and marketing teams to develop engaging content that resonates across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube
- Capture and edit original video content and have a hand in all phases of video production from pre-to-post (filming, editing, color correction, sound design, etc.)
- Define and create branded style templates for new and existing social content for IG stories, etc.
- Become a brand personality with high energy and enthusiasm, fearlessly tackling creative projects, not limited to hosting guests on camera, connecting with strangers on the street, staring in trends, walking through itineraries, etc.
- Be the driver of “think outside the box” ideas, oftentimes thinking ahead of the curve, steering trend curation and thumb-stopping content audiences want to rewatch, share, and continuously tune in
- Must be able to travel independently.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule. This position is the primary manager that monitors PoconoTourism social channels on evenings/weekends but can rotate with other team members.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field from a four-year college or university.
- 2+ years’ experience with social media channels, including social media advertising (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Pinterest, TikTok).
- Proficiency and experience in Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Suite
- Exceptional writing and editing skills; excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, and attention to detail including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement and meet performance standards with limited supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with members, the public, and all levels of employees and management.
- Proven experience with mobile and desktop editing apps including Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, InShot, Edits, or similar.
- Strong visual storytelling skills with a portfolio of social video content.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to clearly articulate and document technical processes and issues.
- Comfortable filming in the field, being the on-camera personality of the Pocono Mountains, directing on-camera talent, and recording voiceovers.
- Familiarity with trends and audience preferences across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
- Ability to edit the same content for multiple platforms.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- This is a hands-on, in-the-field role that requires enthusiasm for the outdoors and a spirit of adventure. Will be expected to participate in activities such as hiking, kayaking, biking, snowshoeing, zip lining, and other outdoor adventures to capture authentic, on-location video content.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to carry equipment, walk long distances, stand for extended periods of time, and navigate uneven terrain while capturing content.
- Flexible schedule and willingness to travel locally to film content at various times, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
