Scheck Hillel Community School, a large Orthodox Jewish community school located in North Miami Beach, Florida, is currently accepting resumes for an experienced full-time Communications Specialist. The Communications Specialist plays a critical role in overseeing the production and dissemination of print and digital materials that communicate the values, achievements, and announcements in the school community. The position is on campus with no remote opportunities. Responsibilities
Writes, drafts, edits, proofs, and submits materials for final approval, including press releases, articles, newsletters, news stories, features, profiles, marketing and advertising materials, handbooks, annual reports, admissions publications, monthly board communications, website content, and leadership communications. Prepares other school-related collateral (e.g., playbills for theatre, admissions materials, donor relations publications). Edits for style, substance, organization; ensures consistency in grammar, format, and messaging; performs proofreading and fact-checking; may perform layout work of a detailed and complex nature. Oversees production processes for multiple publications and coordinates quality assurance stages (copy editing, fact-checking, layout as needed). Manages permissions standards for content and imagery, coordinates post-production activities (mailing, mail house arrangements, copyright registration, internal distribution). Oversees distribution of press releases to media, coordinates photoshoots, maintains photo/clip/contact files, and supports related events as directed. Trains, schedules, and distributes work to other staff, students, interns, and temporary workers as needed. Collaborates with internal departments and school leadership on school-wide initiatives and projects. Manages and oversees the school’s presence on Niche.com, ensuring content accuracy and engagement while implementing strategies to improve ratings and visibility. Other special projects and duties may be assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Writing/Literature, or related field, or equivalent education plus experience. Five or more years of related writing/publishing experience with demonstrated coordination with designers and project leadership. Strong working knowledge of publishing and graphic design requirements, digital communication tools, and related software (Google Suite, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat). Editorial and grammatical writing proficiency. Competence with AI tools to enhance publication quality and efficiency while aligning with the school’s mission and goals. Ability to work across teams, manage multiple projects, vendors, constituencies, and deadlines. Ability to work nights and weekends. This role is on campus with no remote opportunities.
