This position coordinates law enforcement communications for police officers, answers emergency calls, monitors building alarm systems, dispatches police officers, and coordinates fire and EMS workers. Serves as the point of contact for visitors to the police department and issues temporary parking permits to campus visitors. Required Qualifications
Strong communication skills and the ability to relate clearly and concisely using various methods. Ability to manage stressful situations with positive outcomes. Experience in handling multiple priorities and making sound independent decisions. Experience with computer systems, police radios, and other office equipment. Ability to obtain VCIN/NCIC operator certifications and DCJS dispatcher certification. Preferred Qualifications
DCJS dispatcher certification VCIN (Virginia Criminal Investigation Network) Operator Certification NCIC (National Crime Information Center) Certification Higher Education experience Employment Conditions
Emergency call-in, essential personnel. Criminal background check required. Additional Details: Grant Funded: No Restricted: No Telework eligible: No Hours per week: 40 Months per year: 12 Statement of Economic Interest required: No FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Work Classification: Classified Staff Normal Work Schedule: 28-day cycle 160 hours monthly, rotating shifts including weekends, nights, holidays, and occasional overtime.
