Music Therapist - Full-Time - Day Shift

Havenwyck Hospital (a UHS facility) is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults. Position Summary

The Music Therapist is responsible for the provision of Music Therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions, and discharge planning. The therapist utilizes individual and/or group interventions to bring about positive changes in the patient's behavior, whether cognitive, social, emotional, or physical. The therapist educates the patient in healthy coping skills and available resources to continue the client in post-discharge planning and involvement. The therapist will provide services according to the current standards of practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

Establishes treatment goals and objectives to meet individual needs of patients and determines the Music Therapy Modality by which the goals are achieved. Evaluates each patient's progress and the effectiveness of therapy treatment, and records results on daily progress notes. Follows all documentation policies. Develops and applies clinical skills by interviewing and assessing patient's level of functioning, observing patient participation in Music Therapy Sessions and their response to the same. Attends treatment team conferences to exchange information and observations with other members of the team, as well as assisting with the completion of the initial Treatment Plan and progress summary updates. The therapist will use music to reveal thoughts and feelings of the patients and safely manage the reactions that may present. The therapist will collaborate with patients using a unique skill set of musical approaches as a part of their treatment. Flexible work schedule to meet program/hospital needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree/Certification in Music Therapy required. Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) required. Minimum 1 year experience in a psychiatric setting preferred. Employees must be in good standing (employment/corrective action history, evaluation, etc.) to be considered for internal transfers.
