Musice Therapist Job Summary: To utilize music as a creative outlet in recreational programs in a therapeutic setting to address physical, emotional, cognitive, spiritual and social needs of the residents.


Music Therapist Job Description:



  • Will utilize the latest musical techniques and methodologies in programming and assist in contributing ideas to the program calendar that meet the needs of the adult, geriatric and dementia population as well as age-specific

  • Assist in the selection of safe and adequate space, equipment and supplies for music therapy programs and maintain inventory.

  • Assist with any necessary transportation of patient/residents via geri/wheelchair to and from programs. Provide any guidance/direction of ambulatory patients/residents when necessary.

  • Assist with maintaining daily individual attendance sheets on residents by logging attendance after programs

  • Develop and lead large/small group music therapy programs independently that are fun and engaging, including set up and clean-up of activity.

  • Ability to lead one to one music therapy sessions independently

  • Familiar with playing a variety of instruments, ability to sing and able to engage residents in playing instruments.

  • Represents the organization professionally.

  • Promptly reports all needs and concerns to Supervisor or designated alternate.

  • Interacts positively with residents, family members, personnel and visitors under a variety of conditions and circumstances.


Qualifications as a Music Therapist



  • Board Certified Music Therapist and/or Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy or equivalent

  • At least 2 years experience as a Music Therapist working in a Therapeutic Recreation setting geared to the elderly population (preferred)

  • Pleasant singing voice and proficient on piano/guitar

  • Familiar with a variety of instruments, specifically guitar and piano

  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment

  • Ability to deal with difficult behaviors

  • Must be fully vaccinated


Shift: Part Time, Sun-Mon 10am-4:30pm (non-union)
