Technical Writer
Location: Salisbury, NC-Hybrid work schedule.

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Information Technology Technical Writer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for documenting complex IT infrastructure processes and systems, including data centers, servers, infrastructure software, storage solutions, and network environments. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of various technologies including Windows Server, AIX, RHEL, z/OS, Active Directory, storage platforms, and backup and recovery systems. Your documentation will serve as a critical resource for internal teams, operations, and stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and understanding of our infrastructure and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Documentation:
o Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for various IT systems including data centers, servers, storage solutions, networks, and infrastructure software.
o Write clear, concise, and accurate documents such as system configurations, technical manuals, user guides, workflow processes, technical diagrams, and troubleshooting documents.
o Document configurations, architectures, and processes for platforms such as Windows Server, AIX, RHEL, z/OS, Active Directory, computer systems, and storage/recovery systems.
o Translate complex technical language into understandable, user-friendly content.
2. Collaboration with Technical Teams:
o Work closely with system administrators, network engineers, application owners, IT vendors and other IT professionals to gather technical information and produce detailed, accurate documentation and diagrams.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and accuracy of technical documentation.
3. Quality Assurance:
o Ensure all documentation is consistent, error-free, and follows company standards and industry best practices.
o Review and edit technical content from other team members for clarity, grammar, and accuracy.
4. Documentation Maintenance:
o Keep all technical documents up to date with changes in IT systems, infrastructure, software, hardware and processes.
o Maintain version control and ensure all documents are easily accessible for future reference.
5. Training and Knowledge Transfer:
o Develop training materials, presentations, and workshops to help internal teams understand and use the infrastructure documentation.
Qualifications:
" Experience:
o Minimum of 5-7 years of technical writing experience in the IT infrastructure domain.
o Proven experience in documenting IT systems and infrastructure, with a focus on data centers, servers, storage systems, and networks.
o Will be asked to submit writing samples
o Strong understanding of technologies such as Windows Server, AIX, RHEL, z/OS, Active Directory, computer systems, storage platforms, and recovery systems.
" Skills:
o Deep technical analytical skills to ask the right questions and drive out detail.
o Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear, simple terms.
o Proficiency in technical writing tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel.
o Strong attention to detail and ability to create documentation that is consistent, easy to follow and accurate.
o Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
" Education:
o Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
" Additional Skills (Preferred):
o Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and technologies.
o Ability to create diagrams, flowcharts, and other visual aids to complement technical documentation.
