Library Assistant - Access Services
The University of New Mexico College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences (UL&LS) seeks motivated and highly-engaged student employees interested in a challenging and dynamic customer service work environment. Library Assistants are the first point of contact most patrons have with the University Libraries system and take care of most of the day-to-day duties associated with library operations.
Under direct supervision, Library Assistants work with University Libraries staff and students in a team environment to:
- Assist student, faculty and community patrons with discovering and using the library materials.
- Help student patrons learn about and use library resources including course reserves, study rooms, computers and printing.
- Open and/or close University Libraries facilities and ensure the libraries remain a safe and comfortable destination for UNM students and faculty.
- Shelve library materials and ensure that collections are well-organized and accessible
- Participate in special projects as assigned
Successful applicants will have the opportunity for progressively independent work and increased responsibility. Applicants must be capable of working within a team environment. All student employees may be asked to work nights and/or weekends. All UL&LS student employees are employed on a term basis for the current/impending school year.
