Overview
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization with a mission to promote high-quality early learning for each and every child, birth through age 8, by connecting practice, policy, and research. NAEYC is seeking a Digital Communications Manager to lead and execute our digital strategy. This role plays a critical part in shaping how we communicate our mission online, promoting high-quality early learning and elevating the early childhood education profession. The ideal candidate is: A strategic thinker who can create and drive a data-informed social media strategy and manage a multi-channel calendar A highly-skilled content creator who writes well and brings basic graphic design or video skills to create rich content tailored to channel and audience An enthusiastic collaborator who works across departments to align content to organizational priorities. In addition to a cover letter and resume, candidates must submit a robust portfolio of original social media work demonstrating daily hands-on experience. Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive digital communications strategy in collaboration with the communications leadership team. Ensure all digital content aligns with NAEYC's mission, values, and strategic goals. Manage day-to-day operations of social media channels, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement. Create and manage a cross-functional content calendar. Maintain the online newsroom with timely press materials and media kits. Produce compelling content tailored to each platform. Collaborate across departments to ensure cohesive messaging and campaigns. Maintain digital style guides and templates for consistent branding. Monitor and analyze key performance metrics across digital platforms. Use data to refine content strategies and inform leadership. Partner with internal teams and leadership to integrate digital content into broader organizational campaigns. Build relationships with digital influencers and partner organizations to expand NAEYC's reach. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support department and organizational goals. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, or related field. 3-5 years of experience in digital communications, ideally in the nonprofit or education sector. Demonstrated success developing and executing effective digital strategies. Proficiency with digital tools (Google Analytics, Sprout Social, WordPress, social media platforms). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and adapt to diverse audiences. Experience in early childhood education or related policy/advocacy work. Ability to translate complex research and data into accessible, engaging content. Physical Demands
