Overview
Unreasonable Studios (UNR) is looking for an Executive Producer to lead the production process across branded content, entertainment, and original projects at the UNR Detroit offices. The role is a key operational force — part creative partner, part logistics expert, part client liaison — ensuring every project is executed on time, on budget, and at the highest creative standard. The Executive Producer serves as the first point of production contact for all clients in the Detroit area and will embody a start-up mindset, agile problem-solving, confident presenting, and collaborative leadership in both agency-style and client-direct models. The role requires deep live-action production expertise, a robust network of directors/photographers, strong budgeting and bidding leadership, and fluency in both union and non-union environments.
Responsibilities
Integrated Production Leadership: Lead all live-action and photo production from concept through final delivery across integrated campaigns (broadcast, social, digital, branded content). Shape production approaches to maximize quality and value.
Talent and Reels: Research and curate commercial and social director reels plus photographer portfolios; maintain an active pulse on new and established talent. Liaise with external director reps/production companies, manage reels, and present recommendations against open RFIs/RFPs.
Production Operations: Oversee bidding processes for live-action projects; ensure accuracy, transparency, and alignment with scope, budget, and creative vision. Provide knowledge of AICP guidelines, cost consultants, and union/non-union crew structures. Source and manage freelance line producers and key production staff.
Budget, Scheduling, and Compliance: Track and manage multiple productions with attention to risk, budget, schedule, and creative execution. Maintain up-to-date documentation (bid packages, calendars, cost reports) and ensure legal/safety/compliance standards, including SAG-AFTRA, DGA, IATSE, and non-union regulations.
Client & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary production contact, balancing warmth with efficiency, setting clear expectations, flagging risks early, and managing up/out as needed.
Resourcing & Talent Management: Lead resourcing for all Live Action/Photo/Integrated projects from UNR Detroit; work with Business Affairs to develop production agreements, SOWs, estimates, and timelines; collaborate with agency partners to interpret briefs, treatments, and scripts; shape treatments, production decks, and presentation materials as needed.
Revenue and Reporting: Track production revenue, ensure profitability, and build quarterly reports with UNR finance for specific revenue streams.
Qualifications
8+ years of integrated or live-action production experience at a production company, with at least 3 years in a senior or executive producer role.
Proven experience producing commercial and social content, preferably in both agency and brand-direct environments.
5–7+ years of production experience across branded content, commercials, or original short-form.
A track record of owning and delivering multi-faceted campaigns, ideally with agency or brand involvement.
Deep familiarity with all phases of production and post-production.
Fluency in negotiating and operating across union/non-union environments.
