Job Summary/Description

The Project Assistant will support the Kay Bailey Hutchison Institute (KBHI) in executing key initiatives under the supervision and direction of the KBHI Director, with a special emphasis on developing and managing the Institute’s social media presence. This role involves content creation, digital engagement, and coordination of project activities to enhance visibility and outreach. The Project Assistant also supports the KBHI with various tasks, including synchronizing project meetings, maintaining project documentation, and preparing reports. Strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills are crucial for this role. This position is funded by a grant. Continued employment beyond the term of the grant is not guaranteed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the KBHI Director with project assistance, including documentation, timelines, communications, and other facets of project planning and execution.
  • Develop and implement a strategic social media plan for the KBHI that is aligned with ASU, KBHI, and other stakeholders.
  • Utilize a creative approach to developing social media content that is engaging and appropriate for varied audiences.
  • Utilize project management calendar, software, and available tools to organize crucial timelines and documentation related to projects.
  • Collaborate with multiple entities to ensure compliance and adherence to rules and regulations that govern social media use in higher education, including attending workshops and professional development to stay abreast of current rules and regulations from ASU and the TTU system.

Project Support

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to assist in planning, organizing, and executing project activities and events.
  • Skilled in maintaining project documentation, schedules, and reports.
  • Ability to coordinate communication among team members and stakeholders.

Social Media Development & Maintenance

  • Knowledge of basic graphic design and video editing skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement a strategic social media plan aligned with the KBHI’s mission and goals.
  • Skilled in creation of engaging content for platforms such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Ability to stay current with social media trends and best practices.
  • Skilled in creating and posting content that is in accordance with ASU’s policies, including Communications & Marketing approvals and privacy requirements.

Communications & Outreach

  • Ability to support the creation of newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials.
  • Knowledge of ASU’s processes and procedures related to social media guidelines, ASU’s Comm & Marketing policies, and other related policies.
  • Ability to assist KBHI staff organize webinars, workshops, and public engagement events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Education, or a related field. Experience managing social media accounts for organizations or institutions.
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual communication skills. Proficiency in tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media scheduling platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
