Position Title: Adjunct Faculty, School of Education, Library Endorsement Program

Classification: Faculty, part-time, non-benefits eligible

Reports to: Director, Library Media Program

Location: Antioch University Seattle (Hybrid position)

Compensation (per credit hour): $1,450.00 per credit hour (3 credit course is $4,350.00)

Start Date: Fall 2025 and Spring 2026

Antioch University Seattle is seeking to hire instructors for upcoming courses this academic year in School Library Media Endorsement. Please consider applying for a position to teach one or more courses in our program that align with your expertise and experience. Each class will be taught virtually via zoom.

Position Summary

Adjunct Faculty are hired to teach scheduled courses during a specified academic term in a manner prescribed by the University. Adjunct faculty positions are part-time, and not eligible for benefits through the University. Adjunct Faculty are within the bargaining unit represented by SEIU 925.

Our School Library Endorsement Program is designed to support certified educators who are wishing to transition to the school librarian (school library media specialist/teacher librarian) role and are ready to oversee and educate the school community in a school library grounded in equity and social justice.

Classes are dynamic and engaging and they bring theoretical concepts and academic research to life, making connections with justice, equity, and students’ own experience in teaching and learning. Adjunct faculty are supported with onboarding and 1:1 discussion about their course prior to the start of the quarter as well as program specific faculty meetings where instructors can share how students are doing and consider key themes and concepts across courses.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Hold a school library certificate.
  • 4+ years of successful K-12 school library experience
  • Strong record of administrative/leadership experience.
  • A clear history of service to and/or an interest in school library leadership.
  • Active in national and/or state school library organizations
  • A history of publication and/or presentation work at regional, national, and international levels
  • Optimistic, collaborative, and proactive leadership skills.
  • Strong integrative technology skills, particularly appropriate K-12 education and library management systems’ technologies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

PREFERRED:

  • Hold an earned doctoral degree in Education or Library Science
  • Experience in teaching online courses/webinars
  • Experience teaching in a higher ed institution in education and/or school library curriculum.
  • Experience working with adult learners
  • Experience contributing to candidate recruitment.
  • Candidate based in Washington State
