Overview
The New York Post sports team is seeking a full-time Gambling Reporter (Sat-Weds, 1pm-9pm) to help publish authentic and expert-focused gambling content. This person will play a key role for our sports betting team where we are reviewing sportsbooks, staying on top of industry offers, providing daily picks and predictions for nearly all sporting events. The ideal candidate is extremely detail oriented, has journalistic credibility and can showcase a proven track record of sports betting expertise. The candidate we seek has a deep knowledge and interest in sports betting across established leagues and must possess an understanding of the sportsbook landscape. You will be a key contributor to a growing weekly sports betting team, with an emphasis on both editorial and commercial gambling content. We believe that news doesn’t have to be boring and that we can put our own unique spin on betting content.

Responsibilities
- Develop and write daily editorial betting content for web, including game picks, predictions, futures, etc.
- Responsible for writing daily commercial betting content with a focus on sportsbook reviews and offers.
- Take ownership of weekly betting feature stories during peak traffic seasons.
- Ensure stories adhere to the New York Post’s brand voice and style.
- Conduct research to stay on top of the latest industry trends and betting odds.
- Demonstrates the ability to proofread, edit and build copy in our content management system.
- Optimizes headlines to be both unique and SEO friendly.
- Handles the updating of existing evergreen betting content.
- Communicates details of story pitches to the managing editor.
- Must be able to meet deadlines and be able to switch gears under pressure for breaking sports betting news.
- Strong journalistic sense with proven, trackable betting expertise is required.
- Can handle maintaining and updating a home page section.
- Ability to build alerts to draw eyes to our most interesting stories.
- Can take complex topics and make them reader friendly.
Qualifications
- 3-4 years’ experience working in a fast paced online sports betting environment.
- Encyclopedic sports-betting knowledge, including all relevant leagues.
- Ability to work closely with editors, SEO and all relevant internal teams.
- Familiarity with content management systems is a plus such as WordPress and web analytics tools like Parse.ly.
- Familiarity with the New York Post and our writing style.
- Familiarity with sportsbook offers and latest industry trends.
- Knowledge of daily or weekly paid fantasy games is a plus.
- Must enjoy working accurately and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong news judgment and attention to detail and journalistic values are a must.
- Must be willing to work weekends and potentially night shifts.
Note: The New York Post adheres to a hybrid work model. This role will be expected to report into the office 4 days per week (subject to change depending on business needs).
The shift for this role is Sat-Weds, 1pm-9pm
Pay Range: $60,000 – $70,000
