Overview
The Court Reporter performs senior professional level duties on a day-to-day basis to achieve the short- and long-term goals of the work group.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Documents, maintains, and preserves required records and statistics as it pertains to departmental operations.
- Ensures compliance with applicable laws, statutes, regulations, policies, and may update staff or the work group on changes.
- Recommends and/or develops departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains and updates files.
- Manages special projects as directed.
- Stenographically records testimony of all court proceedings as requested by attorney(s) and/or the Court.
- Performs other related duties involved in the operation of the business as assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements
- Associate’s degree plus three (3) full-time years of related work experience; OR
- High School Diploma or GED plus five (5) full-time years of related work experience.
- Current certification by the State of Texas as a certified shorthand reporter (CSR). A CSR License is issued by the Texas Supreme Court upon completion of Court Reporting School and testing by the Texas Court Reporters Certification Board. Provide licensing agency and license number in the application; if hired, proof of educational attainment or licensure at onboarding is required.

Other Requirements
Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that may include criminal background checks, credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records, and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment; each case is considered individually.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, walk, climb, stoop, lift, push and pull.
