Overview
Senior UX Researcher role at Microsoft. Join the Microsoft Compass Program to help shape the future of Copilot. The Compass Program is a customer engagement R&D program within Experiences & Devices, collaborating with Microsoft customers to test and influence Copilot and generative AI across products and services.
You will join a team that enables the growth and operation of Compass, including the AIX00 panel where key customers work with Microsoft to define the future of Copilot. The role focuses on program management and operations, helping manage Compass participants and preparing feature teams for the flagship preview program.
Responsibilities
- Drive a mutually beneficial product development relationship with customers in the Compass program, ensuring customers meet obligations for engaging in research activities and navigating disengagement when it occurs.
- Expand the footprint of Compass activities within customer organizations and create programs that involve more non-IT end users in product research.
- Act as a customer advocate: ensure customer needs are understood, socialized, and acted upon by product teams; provide value-add assistance to customers as needed.
- Maintain relationship health through recurrent, predictable interactions.
- Ensure account team visibility into Compass activities and coordinate with teams to present as One Microsoft.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or a related field AND 1+ year of User Experience Research experience
- OR Master’s Degree in the same fields AND 3+ years of User Experience Research experience
- OR Bachelor’s Degree in the same fields AND 4+ years of User Experience Research experience or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of program or product management experience, including direct experience with the release process
- 4+ years of experience working directly with customers, including managing customer relationships and engagements
Preferred Qualifications
- Confident, capable, and persuasive presentation skills with executive presence
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple, challenging, and ambiguous assignments
- Familiarity with product-making research methods and processes
- Excellent project management skills, including familiarity with software release management for Copilot Preview and Compass programs
- Experience working with customers and managing complex relationships
- Understanding of research concepts to design appropriate research engagements with UR peers
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand program environment
