Legacy FM is seeking a skilled Learning Experience Designer to join our dynamic team.

Note: This is not a UX design position.

The Learning Experience Designer (LXD) will be responsible for designing and developing innovative and interactive learning materials for the healthcare facilities management industry. This position involves close collaboration with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to create content that enhances the learning experience for our audience.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated expert-level skills in instructional design and e-learning development, with at least 3 years of professional experience using Articulate Storyline 360, and a portfolio showcasing interactive, high-quality digital learning experiences.

Job Duties:

Responsibilities

  • Design and Development: Design visually engaging, user-friendly learning materials, including e-learning modules, videos, assessments, and multimedia content.
  • Develop interactive, behavior-changing learning experiences using various modalities (e.g., self-paced eLearning, microlearning, job aids, gamification, and video scripts) grounded in adult learning principles.
  • Ensure content is simple, concise, clear, and appropriate for the training audience.
  • Create scalable practice opportunities using simulations, branching scenarios, and other immersive digital techniques to reinforce learning application and decision-making.
  • Use client style guides to customize materials, including e-learning design, user interfaces, and interactive elements.
  • Leverage instructional design frameworks (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, action mapping) to create effective learning experiences tailored to various audience needs.
  • Maintain a learner-first approach, designing with empathy and ensuring all content is intuitive, inclusive, and focused on real-world relevance and transfer.
  • Project Management: Take ownership of projects and ensure they meet timelines, expectations, and high-quality standards.
  • Work with high attention to accuracy and detail, delivering resources that meet deadlines.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Pursue an understanding of learner roles and ensure learning solutions meet their needs.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to analyze learning needs and define learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with project leads, content writers, SMEs, and other instructional designers to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
  • Communicate design decisions, concepts, and rationale effectively to stakeholders and team members.
  • Quality Control: Conduct rigorous quality assurance reviews to ensure all instructional materials meet high standards of accuracy, clarity, and effectiveness.
  • Continuously review and revise learning resources to incorporate feedback and product updates.
  • Ensure all content aligns with Legacy FM branding standards and complies with industry regulations and accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG).
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles and promote a strong design culture within the organization.

Education and Experience

  • REQUIRED: Three years of professional experience with Articulate Storyline 360 e-learning development and instructional design.
  • REQUIRED: A diverse portfolio demonstrating experience with Articulate Storyline 360, including interactive simulations, branching scenarios, and multimedia integration.
    • NOTE: If your portfolio is password-protected, include the password in your application—submissions without access will not be considered.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Multimedia Design, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in Instructional Design and Technology, Technical Communication, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as Articulate Certified Training, Certified Instructional Designer/Developer (CIDD), or similar are preferred.
  • LinkedIn Learning, Udemy, or Coursera course completion related to instructional design, e-learning development tools, and related topics preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Articulate Storyline 360 with working knowledge of complementary tools such as Articulate Rise and Camtasia.
  • Strong understanding of UX design principles and their application in e-learning environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary for subject matter interviews, content development, storyboarding, team collaboration, coaching, giving and receiving peer review feedback, and facilitating effective meetings.
  • Ability to tailor content for different audiences, simplifying complex technical concepts for non-technical learners.
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy in technical writing.
  • Intermediate competency in Microsoft Office and Google suite.

This role offers fully remote, flexible office hours and the opportunity to make a significant impact by developing engaging and effective learning experiences. It pays $35 – 45 per hour, depending on experience.
