Starting: Mid-August (2024, with Desired Start Date 08/01/2024)

We are seeking a qualified individual to provide instruction for VSC 160: Raster Graphics, a course designed to introduce students to advanced concepts and techniques in raster-based image editing and development, with a focus on image manipulation using Adobe Photoshop. This is a face-to-face, in-person teaching position based at the Terry Campus in Dover, Delaware. Please include a link to a professionally developed portfolio showcasing personal graphic design work, with an emphasis on image manipulation and Adobe Photoshop expertise.

Responsibilities

  1. Plan, organize, and instruct courses as assigned by the Department Chairperson/supervisor, utilizing effective instructional strategies, the learning management system (LMS), appropriate communication, classroom management, leadership skills, and instructional/educational technology to promote student success.
  2. Demonstrate sound practices in instruction and classroom management that address students’ diverse academic needs.
  3. Follow the prescribed course outline and use texts selected by the department, plus other supplemental materials.
  4. Deliver instruction according to the class meeting schedule and instructional hours established for the session, and notify the Department Chairperson of any cancellations in a timely manner.
  5. Assist students toward successful course completion by providing outreach, guidance, and timely feedback.
  6. Make oneself accessible to answer students’ questions in a timely manner.
  7. Adhere to College policies relating to employment, academics, student behavior, and the Academic Calendar; maintain adequate and timely student records in the LMS.
  8. Evaluate and report students’ progress and attendance promptly; encourage completion of course evaluations and use feedback for improvement.
  9. Attend and participate in College meetings for orientation, professional development, or other departmental activities as assigned.
  10. Perform other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of sound instructional techniques and subject matter in the discipline.
  • Knowledge of computers and instructional methodology; knowledge of learning theory as applied to face-to-face, hybrid, and distance learning.
  • Knowledge of competency-based learning and instructional technology.
  • Ability to use teaching strategies that address diverse learning styles and promote successful learning.
  • Ability to use assessment to enhance learning; ability to evaluate and use instructional technology effectively.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive environment and respect diverse talents and ways of learning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience.
