Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, coordinate with assignments to determine appropriate timelines, content, and format for the development of comprehensive engineering/scientific technical documents.
  • Develop detailed plans, statements of work, cost estimates and proposals for technical document production.
  • Coordinate aspects of preparing technical documents, including editing, to meet specified content and deadlines, including changes/modifications.
  • Coordinate the identification, accumulation, and analysis of appropriate technical information and data, including interviewing technical experts, observing processes, and researching and analyzing technical data and publications.
  • Participate with engineering/scientific teams to resolve technical/operational issues.
  • Serve as a specialist to management and customer by participating in technical documentation reviews and making customer-related presentations as required.
  • Coordinate reproduction, release, distribution, and appropriate storage of documents.
  • Represent the organization as a secondary or alternate contact on assigned project(s).
  • Recommend new and/or modifications to documentation policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance in the document security classification process.
  • Provide guidance and training to teams of experienced technical professionals.
  • Observe all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating practices and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of an associate's degree in a related discipline and six or more years progressive experience in a technical field. May substitute equivalent professional experience in lieu of education/training.
  • Two or more years of management/customer interface is a plus.
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of education/training.
  • Experience creating IETMs (Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals) for the military is highly desired.
  • Experience developing XML-based technical documentation for aerospace and defense applications, with expertise in S1000D specifications and IETMs.
  • Experience with S1000D is highly desired, particularly in the creation and management of structured technical documentation in compliance with aerospace and defense standards.
  • Must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of engineering/scientific principles underlying the technology and of technical document preparation.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of the development of technical manuals and documentation, including editing and media selection.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of computer-based tools in the production of technical documentation.
  • Ability to develop, acquire, interpret and communicate engineering/scientific technical data; communicate new concepts; maintain confidentiality of sensitive information;
  • Ability to organize, schedule and coordinate work phases and determine the appropriate approach at the task or project level;
  • Leadership and organization skills to work with management and customers and represent the organization;
  • Ability to identify issues and develop advanced solutions to a variety of complex technical and administrative problems;
  • Ability to work independently and lead in a team environment; willingness to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.

Job Type: Full-Time Salary
Salary range: 68,770 - 116,193
