Overview

Newscast Producer/Media Producer - AM PRODUCER (VB, Norfolk, Portsmouth) at WAVY-TV 10 is seeking a dynamic NEWS PRODUCER who wants to tell compelling stories, dominate breaking news and severe weather coverage, and promote the values of journalism on air, online, social media and streaming services.

The successful candidate will have strong news judgment, be passionate about journalism, and have a proven ability to collaborate within an award-winning team. This role contributes to the station's online and streaming success by posting stories and other content on WAVY.com and may involve streaming content.

Responsibilities

• Produce newscasts with creativity and flair, writing clear, concise copy on deadline, and working under pressure.
• Showcase strong video, emotional sound and easy-to-understand graphics.
• Post stories and other content on WAVY.com and participate in streaming content as needed.
• Be a major part of the station's online and streaming presence.
• Collaborate with the news team to deliver comprehensive coverage of breaking news and severe weather.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent experience; 2-5 years mainline news producing experience preferred.
• Strong news judgment and passion for journalism.
• Willing and able to work overnight, night, and weekend shifts, including holidays.
• Ability to write clearly and concisely on deadline and to produce engaging video and graphics.
