POSITION SUMMARY:

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) seeks a part-time Multimedia Intern to work closely with the Creative Director, Multimedia Design Lead, and Social Media Manager. The internship will run from September 2025 - April 2026. The intern must be available 24 hours a week in addition to being available to work 40 hours a week during the 2026 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, February 27 - March 8. Day-to-day schedules are flexible through the duration of the internship to accommodate for school schedules. Position is hybrid, but does require on-site tasks due to the nature of the work. This position will receive a total stipend of $3,000, if a single candidate is selected, payable in 3 payments, on the condition that the student must receive college credit for the internship. It is desired for this internship to be completed by one candidate; however, the internship may be split into two sessions for two different candidates. The first session will run September - December 2025, and the second will run January - April 2026. If two candidates are selected, the stipend would be applied as one payment of $1500 for each session, on the condition that the students must be receiving college credit for the internship.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Multimedia Intern will work alongside the Creative Team to tell dynamic stories about the PHS Brand in video, photography, and graphic design to drive revenue, social media engagement, and brand awareness. The intern will collaborate with the creative and marketing team on content strategies and initiatives, with a heavy focus on video content. They will learn to manage digital assets and to capture content in a variety of scenarios, including large scale events like the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show.

This role will support the Creative Team by:
  • Culling and organizing video footage for best shots
  • Cutting and transcribing video and audio interviews
  • Create 1st drafts of video content - both landscape and vertical formats
  • Photographing and filming gardens in Philadelphia region
  • Photographing monthly events at Pop Up Gardens and partner locations
  • Uploading, tagging, organizing photos in digital asset management system
  • Gather photo and video options for various stakeholder requests - blog, email, social media, press, etc.
  • Assist on-site in video productions, for both long term content and social media content
  • Assist in longer-term project to organize and upload video clips to create an online library of evergreen footage
Experience and Skills Required:
  • Excellent video editing skills in Adobe Premiere or similar software - experience editing in both vertical and landscape formats
  • Proficient photography skills, including but not limited to events, landscape/gardens, and portraiture
    • Ability to use personal camera or a PHS-owned Canon
  • Experience in video production - filming, audio, lighting, etc.
  • Great understanding of storytelling and story structure
  • General understating of digital asset management systems, preferred
  • Knowledge of basic motion graphic/animation skills in Adobe After Effects, a plus
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to think creatively to propose and implement fresh ideas that support content strategy
  • Self-sufficient, able to work very independently and out in the field
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a professional and courteous demeanor
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy while handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and file management skills
  • Proficient in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and digital asset management
  • Ability to travel independently within Philadelphia (mainly Center City and/or Manayunk)
