The team designs developer tools, including Xcode, used by millions of developers around the world to build, test, and ship software for Apple's platforms! Our team is looking for an experienced design leader who is skilled in user-focused design and has a strong understanding of technical concepts and tools. Description The Developer Experience design team strives to solve the question of what a great developer tool should be. In this role you would be responsible for leading a small team to deliver user experience designs across multiple projects and tools. The role is highly cross functional and requires building strong partnerships with engineering managers, designers and engineers to pitch innovative ideas, foster a collaborative environment, and enhance the effectiveness and cohesion of the team. As a leader you will drive design direction with a mix of hands on design work and providing creative direction and feedback to the team. This position requires strong communication skills to represent design goals to partners and executives and the ability to interpret and challenge highly technical engineering requirements and business goals to advocate for user-focused product decisions. You will champion Apple's design standards and ensure that designs are functional, comprehensive, and maintains a high level of visual quality. Responsibilities Lead a small team to deliver user experience designs across multiple projects and tools. Build strong partnerships with engineering managers, designers and engineers to pitch innovative ideas, foster collaboration, and enhance team effectiveness and cohesion. Drive design direction with hands-on design work and provide creative direction and feedback to the team. Communicate design goals to partners and executives, interpret technical requirements and business goals, and advocate for user-focused product decisions. Uphold and champion Apple’s design standards to ensure functional, comprehensive designs with high visual quality. Minimum Qualifications
Depth of knowledge of tools and workflows used in software development Effective at driving clarity in product vision that unites technical requirements with user focus Ability to build strong partnerships, influence, and lead a team to deliver high quality outcomes Portfolio demonstrating product design leadership, creative problem solving, and high quality visual design polish Preferred Qualifications
5+ years industry experience as a UX designer, Human Computer Interaction designer, or related role 2+ years of design management experience Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $198,300 and $342,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
