Overview

The California Dental Association (CDA) is a membership organization that represents 27,000 dental professionals and champions oral health. CDA delivers advocacy initiatives, education and guidance to its members. The organization includes The Dentists Insurance Company (TDIC), TDIC Insurance Solutions, Rotunda Partners and the CDA Foundation. This is a remote-first role with occasional in-office meetings; candidate must live in the Pacific Time Zone.

Pay information: Exempt, $75,000 - $88,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Visual design concept development and execution across digital and print channels, translating business and marketing objectives into clear, compelling designs.
  • Collaborate with writers, marketers, stakeholders, consultants and vendors to plan, analyze, organize and execute design projects.
  • Conceptualize, design and refine work from start to finish; contribute knowledge and mentorship to the team.
  • Maintain evolution of brand standards and serve as an internal brand steward, ensuring materials adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Develop on-brand products across email, video, social media, direct mail, web graphics, events and interactive displays; partner with channel experts to ensure proper translation of concepts.
  • Support editorial content from a design perspective (illustrations, icons, information graphics) and stay updated on design trends and technologies.
  • Provide cross-training and participate in knowledge sharing; assist in design reviews and give constructive feedback.
  • Ensure work is delivered on time, reviewed and approved before presentation, and communicate design decisions clearly to peers and management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic, visual or human interaction design with emphasis on digital channels.
  • Minimum 5 years of design experience in an agency or corporate marketing/communications setting.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with technical development teams and knowledge of visual design, human-centered design, brand development and interaction design.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating user-focused design and communication of the user’s perspective.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office; knowledge of prototyping tools is a plus.
  • Preferred: experience with Adobe XD, SketchApp, Jira or similar tools; website or app design experience; e-commerce merchandising experience; Agile environment familiarity; knowledge of web CMS and social media asset creation; understanding of email marketing, HTML and web graphics.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional (1-33%), Frequent (34-66%), and Constant (67-100%) workload indicators with periodic travel.
  • Physical requirements include standing, bending, sitting, kneeling; occasional overnight travel.

Location: Remote-first with occasional in-office meetings; candidate must reside in the Pacific Time Zone.
