Overview
Position: Senior, Design Researcher at Walmart. This role focuses on applying design research to inform and shape user experience and product strategy.
What you’ll do
- User Discovery: apply user experience strategies, conduct user interviews and surveys, map user journeys, develop storyboards, and perform contextual inquiries to identify gaps between business expectations and user needs. Analyze trends in user behavior to improve interaction design and UX strategies. Anticipate and mitigate risks during information synthesis and propose interactive design solutions. Interpret data from web analytics, user surveys, and customer support calls.
- Managing Functional Partnerships: identify and map stakeholders, analyze and engage stakeholders, communicate effectively, and adapt to diverse business vernacular. Understand stakeholder interests and technical needs; partner with them to share relevant information; establish credibility with business partners and maintain ongoing exchanges of functional information.
- Design Research: apply principles of research, qualitative and quantitative methods, data analysis, and risk/ethics considerations. Propose research hypotheses independently, guide data collection, verify information reliability, identify gaps, and translate insights into actionable recommendations for design and business strategy.
- Influencing and Building Stakeholder Consensus: communicate clearly in multi-team stakeholder meetings; present complex information concisely; build collaborative relationships; influence action with well-supported recommendations; prepare clear, structured reports based on data; anticipate needs and provide constructive feedback.
- Driving Customer/Client Needs: understand customer problems and journeys; map touchpoints; simplify processes to reduce turnaround times and enhance customer delight; align product plans with customer requirements.
- Usability Testing and Iteration: understand user profiles, develop testing scenarios and plans, document procedures, and explain alpha/beta testing objectives. Contribute to ongoing improvements by applying expertise to testing and iteration efforts.
- Business partnership and governance: support implementation of solutions by building stakeholder relationships, defining processes, monitoring progress, and adapting to changing priorities while upholding company ethics and integrity.
