Overview
Alliance for Community Empowerment (ACE) is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Development Manager to lead our fundraising and communications initiatives for a nonprofit organization. In this role, you will oversee a diverse portfolio including grants management, special events, communications, annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving strategies. Your work will be instrumental in advancing ACE’s mission by ensuring the sustainability and growth of resources that support our most vulnerable communities.
This position also includes collaboration with AmeriCorps VISTA members, aligning their efforts with our development goals. Ideal candidates will bring a strong background in nonprofit development and a passion for social impact, along with the ability to manage multiple complex projects with strategic insight and professionalism. Hybrid work may be available depending on project needs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities and help prepare grant applications for the continued development of ACE services.
- Manage implementation and operation of supplemental grants for expansion of related programs.
- Maintain a list of potential financial donors including corporations, foundations, and individuals.
- Collaborate on special events to generate funds.
- Develop effective working relationships with donors, volunteers, government, corporate, and foundation representatives to nurture their partnership with the organization.
- Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the organization.
- Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
- Prepare grant proposals/applications and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization; jointly present proposals with the CEO and other leadership staff.
- Collaborate with leadership staff regularly to assess ACE’s financial needs to develop fundraising strategies.
- Develop and implement an annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving programs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Qualifications
- Bachelors in a related field preferred.
- At least three years of experience in organizational development, grant writing preferred; related business school or college courses may be substituted for up to one year of experience.
- Possess a current California Driver’s License, clean DMV record and adequate auto insurance.
- Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check and a credit check.
Compensation
The base pay range is $80,000.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr. This range is provided by Alliance for Community Empowerment; your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience. The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $80,000 to $95,000 per year. The offered pay will depend on factors including years of experience, education, and other factors.
