Position Title: Communications Aide
Salary Schedule: PARA plus supplement
Department: Exceptional Students Educational Program

Reports To: Principal, SLP Lead, SLP Coordinator
Work Schedule: 190 Days / 8 hours per day
FLSA: Exempt: No
Primary Function: Facilitates development of communication skills under the supervision of a certified SLP
Working Conditions
- Classroom environment
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone
- Seeing to read a variety of materials
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materials
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Communication Disorders or Speech Pathology required
- Paraprofessional certification will be required
- The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
- Conducts speech/language therapy sessions according to schedule
- Notifies staff in a timely manner of any changes to schedule
- Reports and maintains student attendance and data to assess progress
- Complies with Federal, State and System regulations regarding due process
- Refers to other agencies and/or personnel when appropriate
- Investigates and uses new strategies for delivering student services
- Participates in professional learning opportunities provided
- Attends scheduled departmental meetings
- Participates with school administrators/coordinators for effective planning, coordination, and implementation of speech-language program into total educational system
- Participates in RTI process at local school level
- Reports information required for local, state, and federal programs
- Maintains confidentiality of student and student records
- Adheres to legal statutes, organizational rules, and community standards
- Maintains successful working relationships with co-workers
- Functions as a team worker
- Manifests emotional stability and maturity in all phases of job performance
- Gets along positively with staff, supervisors, and visitors
- Treats confidential information and sensitive situations with discretion and avoids gossip

- Provides therapy per IEPs under the directions of the SLP
- Reviews plans and schedules with the SLP on a regular basis

- Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee
