Position Description

Baylor University seeks to fill a tenure track faculty position within the Department of Communication at the Assistant Professor level effective fall 2026. We are seeking a new faculty member in the area of Organizational Communication in which they will teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Further, this individual will have an active research agenda and be engaged in service. Each of these three areas are essential, as our departmental mission statement is: “Excellent teaching, impactful scholarship, and meaningful service in a student-centered, Christian environment.”

Qualifications

Required:

  • PhD in Organizational Communication or closely related field, in hand or to be conferred by the start date.
  • An active program of research that has the potential to secure external funding

Preferred:

  • An area of research in applied communication
  • History of successful external grant applications
  • Teaching experience (undergraduate and graduate)
  • Research in the areas of: groups and team communication, non-profit organizing, identity, resilience, virtual or remote work, leadership, and/or organizational technology
  • The ability to teach and work with diverse methodological backgrounds, including both quantitative methods (experimental design, network analysis, computational analysis, survey research), and qualitative methods (narrative, ethnography, focus groups, interviews, observation)

  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., peer evaluations, student evaluations, syllabi, assignments, teaching awards)
  • Three letters of recommendation
