Job Description

Raritan Valley Community College is seeking part-time instructors to teach Film Studies courses, particularly Film Technique and a Survey of American Film.

These courses help students understand how American films reflect and shape culture, while also introducing them to movies as a powerful visual art form. Students explore various film genres, such as romantic comedies, Westerns, and film noir, and learn to analyze key elements of film language, including cinematography, editing, lighting, sound, and mise en scène.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Film Studies courses, particularly Film Technique and a Survey of American Film
  • Help students understand how films reflect and shape culture and analyze film language
  • Guide students in thinking critically and writing clearly about visual media

Qualifications

  • A master\'s degree in Film, Media, Communication, or a related field is required
  • Prior teaching experience is required; college-level teaching is preferred
