Overview
Summary Statement
As a Graphics & Printing Technician III, you will set up and manipulate multi-page and digital images, convert and transfer electronic files, determine paper types, estimate quantity of supplies, and operate digital bindery equipment. You will operate and maintain various graphic and design software. Equipment use includes inputting files to scanners, printers, and digital cameras. Processing of print jobs includes correction of screens, textures, image quality and alignment, satisfactory cutting, padding, on-line binding and finishing.
Responsibilities
- Apply printing, graphic design and photography principles, practices, methods, techniques and processes to produce professional, high quality materials including original artwork/design, layout, paste up, electronic typesetting/desktop publishing, printing equipment setup and adjustment, applying inks and fountain solutions, taking and developing photographs, stripping negatives, processing plates, electronic file conversion/transfer, transferring/manipulating images, and bindery.
- Use various tools, equipment, supplies and materials such as computers, software packages, drafting/drawing tools, chemicals, inks, paints, cameras, scanners, printing equipment and finishing equipment to produce professional, high quality and appealing materials.
- Produce materials such as pamphlets, displays, exhibits, booklets, photographs, brochures, maps, letterhead, forms, posters, reports, signs, illustrations, charts, graphs, vehicle markings, business cards, and certificates.
- Work with customers to provide technical assistance, meet their needs, deadlines, and budget restraints while producing top quality and attractive materials.
- Clean and maintain equipment and tools; maintain/update records/logs of project status, production count, supplies/equipment used, and related activities.
Qualifications
- Six months experience in graphics and printing work such as planning, designing, creating and producing artistic visual materials, utilizing various techniques and equipment for the development of informational/educational media such as publications, exhibits, outdoor signage, displays and brochures.
- Six months experience in maintaining and adjusting graphics and printing equipment such as digital or offset printers, graphic design equipment, finishing equipment, sign production equipment or machinery.
Additional Posting Information
This position may be required to work after 4:30 to support legislative session needs. The State of Delaware recognizes the value of telework and flexible working schedules.
