Job Title: Multimedia Journalist - WFSU Public Media (Panama City, FL)

Responsibilities
- Plans and produces a variety of regional news stories and feature productions for broadcast across radio, television, the web, the Rural News Service and other social media platforms as needed. This includes conducting interviews in the field, editing, posting, and formatting stories.
- Operates and/or directs the operation of broadcast and digital production equipment to include cameras (field), audio and video edit systems, media storage devices, audio systems, lighting instruments and other associated tools.
- Provides support for special events coverage and produces special elements for productions as assigned.
- Oversees Rural News Service intern and serves as first-point editor for their work.
- Assists the Director with planning, designing and implementing technical facilities improvement and equipment replacement including capital budget recommendations, quote and bid preparation and analysis, and representing projects with vendors and university departments.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
- A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver’s License or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Communications, English, Editing Writing and Media, Journalism, Marketing and Advertising, Filmmaking.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure.
- Experience in audio/digital and video production.
- Experience in writing and copy editing.
- Experience producing long-form, narrative journalism in broadcast and digital.
- Ability to adapt the material to fit a variety of platforms—social and digital.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
- Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
- Knowledge of journalism ethics, rules, and procedures.

The Rural News Service is a partnership between WFSU, WTXL/ABC27 and Florida A&M University’s School of Journalism and Graphic Communication. The Multimedia Journalist position focuses on telling the trials and triumphs of Florida’s “Forgotten Coast” and everything in-between.
