Base pay range

$56,300.00/yr - $73,875.00/yr

Responsibilities

  • Publishers work on a document from conception to production and delivery, tracking and managing multiple concurrent deliverables.
  • Engage with publishing colleagues to create and refine project documentation into clean, clear, attractive publications, following standard processes and client requirements.
  • Apply expert-level formatting in Microsoft Word and advanced PDF development (OCR, optimization, headers/footers) to produce publication-ready documents.
  • Ensure in-place processes and quality approaches are used; collaborate with editorial, graphic design, document publishing, production, and technical staff to meet deadlines.
  • Manage communication throughout the workflow to coordinate with authors, project team leads, editors, publishers, and designers as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience ushering a document through its development phases from startup to client submittal, coordinating moving pieces for documents that can be thousands of pages and hundreds of megabytes.
  • Strong professional communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to engage publishing colleagues, team leaders, contributing authors, and project managers.
  • Expertise formatting in MS Word (and MS Excel/PowerPoint) according to established brand or project styles; proficient use of Word templates, styles, mail merge, macros, section breaks, page layout, cross-references, tracked changes, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Acrobat or other PDF tools for creating complex PDFs and preparing large documents for publication (bookmarks, blank pages, orientation) and familiarity with OCR and optimization for large multi-volume PDFs.
  • Experience with shared workspace platforms (e.g., SharePoint, ProjectWise) and collaboration with editorial, design, and technical staff; strong time-management and workload coordination skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Basic understanding of grammatical rules, punctuation, and references; knowledge of accessibility best practices (Section 508, AODA, WCAG, PDF/UA) is a plus.

Employment type & environment

This is a non-exempt, hourly paid position with hybrid work (2 days in office per week if within 50 miles of an office).
