Chief Product Designer (UI/UX) – Relationship & Dating App

Tunjio Labs is a forward-thinking company dedicated to innovation and excellence. We are passionate about solving real-world problems with world-class products, leveraging technology at all readiness levels (emerging and standard).

We are currently building a Relationship & Dating App that goes beyond swipes and casual matches. Most dating apps fail at their promise, people are not necessarily finding meaningful connections or lasting love. Our mission is to fill the missing dots, redefining what dating apps are and should be.

This is not a traditional job, nor a salaried position. It’s an opportunity for a passionate designer to co-create something meaningful with equity-based compensation.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Chief Product Designer (UI/UX) who thinks and acts like a founder. This individual should have a street-smart approach to identifying user needs, crafting intuitive interfaces, and leading design innovation from scratch. The ideal candidate is not just looking for a job but is obsessed with creating extreme value through exceptional user experiences while thriving in a startup environment.

Areas of Talent & Skill

  • User-Centered Design Leadership: Ability to lead design vision by deeply understanding user behavior, pain points, and unarticulated needs in the dating/relationship space.
  • UX Research & Strategy: Conducting research on how people form meaningful connections, analyzing current dating platforms, and testing new approaches.
  • UI & Interaction Design Excellence: Crafting visually stunning, intuitive, and emotionally resonant interfaces.
  • Design Prototyping & Testing: Rapidly iterating on wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using tools like Figma, Framer, or similar.
  • Innovation in Dating Tech: Exploring how AI, personalization, and new engagement models can foster genuine human connection.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with product, engineering, and marketing to ensure cohesive execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Founder-Like Ownership: Lead the design vision as if it were your own company, ensuring every pixel and interaction creates meaningful connection.
  • End-to-End UX/UI Design: From concept to execution, own the full design process: research, wireframing, prototyping, testing, and refinement.
  • Design Systems & Scalability: Build and maintain design systems that ensure consistency and efficiency as the app scales.
  • Data-Informed Design: Use analytics, A/B testing, and user feedback to refine and optimize experiences.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Guide junior designers (if applicable) and evangelize design thinking across the team.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a UI/UX designer, product designer, or similar role (portfolio required).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: You thrive in ambiguity and love building from 0→1.
  • Mastery of design tools: Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Framer, etc.
  • Strong understanding of usability principles, interaction design, and visual design.
  • Ability to balance creativity with execution: You move fast but sweat the details.
  • Excellent communication & storytelling: You can articulate design decisions clearly.

Compensation

This is an equity-based role, not a salaried position. You will be joining as a co-founder-level design leader, shaping the company’s future while owning a significant stake in its success.

Who This Role Is For

  • Designers who obsess over user experience: You don’t just make things look good; you make them feel effortless.
  • Visionaries who want long-term mission: You’re not looking for a 9-to-5 but a legacy.
  • Doers who thrive in a fast-moving startup: You love scrappy execution and rapid iteration.
  • Builders who care about real love: You believe technology can (and should) help people form deeper, lasting relationships
