Role Overview

We're seeking a passionate UX Designer to join our team and help shape the future of open source AI development platforms. You will create intuitive, powerful interfaces that make complex AI workflows accessible to researchers, developers, and enterprises worldwide. This role offers the opportunity to design experiences that democratize access to frontier AI technology and contribute to making AI development more open, collaborative, and efficient.

What you'll do

  • Design AI Workflows: Create intuitive user experiences for complex AI development processes including model training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and deployment as well as data synthesis and curation.
  • User Research: Conduct research with AI researchers, ML engineers, and enterprise developers to understand their workflows, pain points, and needs.
  • Interface Design: Design sophisticated, data-rich interfaces that handle complex visualizations, real-time training metrics, model performance dashboards, and deployment monitoring tools.
  • Enterprise Solutions: Design enterprise-grade interfaces for large-scale AI deployments, admin dashboards, and user management systems that work across cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Design Systems: Contribute to and evolve our design system to ensure consistency across our platform while supporting rapid product development and community contributions.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with AI researchers, platform engineers, and our open-source community to translate complex technical concepts into accessible user experiences.
  • Webmaster: Own design, content, and ideally implementation of all aspects of the website. Ensure buy-in from cross-functional partners and consistency with Oumi brand design.

What you'll bring

  • Experience: Deep UX design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating your design process, user research skills, and impact on complex technical products.
  • Technical User Focus: Proven experience designing for developers, researchers, or technical users, with understanding of developer workflows, command-line interfaces, and technical documentation.
  • Design Expertise: Proficiency in design tools (Figma, Sketch, etc.), prototyping, and creating design systems. Strong understanding of interaction design principles and information architecture.
  • User Research: Experience conducting user research with technical audiences, synthesizing insights, and translating findings into actionable design decisions and product improvements.
  • Data Visualization: Ability to design clear, meaningful visualizations for complex data including training metrics, model performance, system monitoring, and resource utilization.
  • Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams, particularly with engineers and technical stakeholders in fast-paced environments.
  • Open Source: Familiarity with open-source projects and communities, with passion for contributing to collaborative development and understanding of community-driven product development.

  • Bonus points: Experience with AI / ML tools, platforms, or scientific computing interfaces; background designing for cloud platforms, distributed systems, or developer tools; experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS) and understanding of frontend development constraints; frontend implementation; previous experience at an AI, ML, or developer tools company; experience understanding of enterprise software requirements.
